Locanda San Ginese
We aren’t just a B&B … we are a
Locanda (inn), a place that, traditionally,
offers a refuge for travellers, a respite
place where you can recharge your batteries
for that journey ahead, or a place to
begin one. Our beds are very comfortable
and our rooms are quite spacious (the
reason we have included the word ‘room’
with ‘Bed & Breakfast). Our breakfasts
are lavish, served with love and imagination.
Welcome one and all to LOCANDA San Ginese.
As soon as you arrive, you’ll feel as
if time has been suspended, and that
all your problems, all the deafening
noise, and all your worries are now a
thing of the past.
Locanda San Ginese is located in San
Ginese di Compito.
To get to San Ginese, and to our Locanda,
you’ll need to go into green open spaces
and into silence … interrupted only by
the sounds of the countryside.
We are in Compito, c. 5 miles from the
16th c. walls of Lucca. The area is
on level ground and the winding street
from Lucca leads to Pontedera, to the
slopes of Mt. Serra where you can go
on an excursion, have a picnic or go
hiking, or just enjoy the breathtaking
view overlooking the city of Pisa, and
more …
We are in an ideal position where you
can unwind, relax, and also where you
can visit numerous tourist resorts of
Tuscany, many of which can be reached
in less than an hour, or however much
time you wish to devote to tourist adventures
without wearing yourself out.
The area is famous for its first rate
olive oil, for its honey, and for its
edible delights, and especially for having
given the name to a famous bean---the
cannellini bean!
Locanda San Ginese---Bed, Room and Breakfast---was
conceived in an old country house which
has been completely restored while still
respecting the original features of the
house. The house has a marvellous balance
of terra cotta tiled floors and ceiling
beams along with chestnut-wood rafters.
Breakfast and possibly dinner (depending
on the season), comes served in the cozy
living room or under the veranda on the
yard in front of the house, thus allowing
you to enjoy the view of the beautiful
cottage and its ‘mandolato (intriguing
brick work design).
Maps and guides of the area, business
cards of restaurants, leaflets, programs
of events and much more are available
to all our guests during their stay.
